NEW ASCENSION
jeremy bouchard
Dead friends are my affinity to wisdom
Seasons of faces spiral before me
Filled with the scents of awaiting emotions
An entrancement of ages by simple beauty
And the predictability of a new attachment
Intoxicating my spirit
Like wine
Tasted from a forgotten spring.

pines
ford, desmineurs
dull yellow inner core
read through
a peeling
moist soil
for standing
taller than
the next winter
away, the shards
of bark still line
my pockets

A Ripple of Cobra
by David Koepke
A ripple of cobra
standing from the basket
and the cobra's shadow,
in the extreme angle of the sun,
streaking huge
down the dusty alleyway.

A POEM TO A NEW FOUND FRIEND
harnifer
valerio
i can be a clown
when you're lonely and down,
a great philosopher
if you need an educator.
i can be your moon
when you're dreaming all alone,
an ocean of cheers
when you're drowning in tears.
i can be your slave
till i lay down in grave,
i can be what you want
all your wish is my command.
i can even make miracles
to clear-out all your troubles,
just whisper my name twice
between the blink of your eyes.
i can be a poet
though my thoughts doesn't speak
even if it's not rhyming
i know for you it's overwhelming.

A Mile Long Smile
Erica Dopierala
Have you ever smiled
A smile as long as a mile?
It's hard to do I'm telling you
Only one who's truly happy
But not one who's unhappy
So have you ever smiled
A smile as long as a mile
Longer than a Nile
While sitting in an isle of a court trial
If you smile a mile long smile
It must be done free-style
My question still remains
Have you ever smiled
A smile as long as a mile
If you have give me a dial
Then I've finally found someone
Now I can smile

See them run
Jesse Osmun
Once I was a boy
running through the fields of giant grass
Stumbling, falling into the shades of brown
laughing, smiling
what happened to the carefree days
now that the shadows of my life
slowly pass me by
No longer the child
the man wishes for his wings back
So he can soar with love
and be closer to God
Icarus had wings
but in his curiosity
he flew to close
and melted his dreams away
sometimes dreams fade
sometimes thy thrive
sometimes they even come true

I AM ONLY HUMAN
By Areia Jo Slayer
I Am a Women, and a child.
I am a Friend and a enemy,
I am a lover and a hater,
I love and was loved,
I am a teacher and a student,
I am a mother and a daughter,
I make mistakes and do great things,
But as I cry myself to sleep don't forget me because,
I am only Human.

Nuwaubu...
Taashara
Nuwaubu is knowing your smallness
Your smallness in a mass of infinite oneness
Particles of vibrations, light waves with soft brightness
Nuwaubu is identity
Knowing the fallacy of his history, uncovering my-story my-steries
Knowing I am God, Goddess, a reincarnate of theory
Nuwaubu is a new perception
I perceive all things unseen beyond the dreams that call us
To conceive the GOD as gods with most high mothers and fathers
I perceive of densities and dimensions
Overlapping helixes of worlds with telepathic impressions
Nuwaubu is not physical, it is not spiritual either
It is soul and only those with soul with ....Nuwaubu

I squeak across the floor
To my destination
Untold
I take my allotted position
My allotted space
Untold
Wait for my allotted life to happen
Untold I wait alone
For my allotted life to end
Untold

I have walked down the street
yesterday, as an ordinary girl.
Nineteen and counting...one...two
staring at my grimy feet and marvel at
their lack of interest.
Men don't go out with somebody because of
their feet. They choose according to mind, body,
spirit. More often enough the second one. Body? What
is that? Just a form that your feet hold up. That weighs
down your hooves and makes them tired. The hardest working
part of your body is ignored. Whatever, my feet are tired and I must rest.

: I am most like a football player...
I am fast and athletic just like a
running back heading for the endzone.
I only learn more, not any less.
I believe in scoring touchdowns
and making my team feel good.
I enjoy hearing the crowd cheer.
But most of all...
I just like being me.

love has always been
a misfortunate friend,
i have never known love,
i cannot pretend.
i wish i had that feeling
inside myself,
that special feeling,
i have never felt.

Blue and Gray these brothers fought,
Side by side they were raised and taught.
One sure shot his eyes fill with haze,
the other slumped over with lifeless gaze.
Upright he stood,
Open fire was called.
On top of the other,
The brother would fall.

uncertain
Heather Knudson
regard me with your sorrowful glare
you listen
head cocked to the side
I speak hesitantly, softly
my words creep through the still air
you are too opaque to read
To know what goes on behind that perfect brow
not silliness or fluff for sure
I would cut of my toes
Do I dare?
if I bare my soul to you
would you flee far away?
I would miss your glare
the never ceasing mystery
you cast upon me

FRIENDS
b.m.weekley
Written with a pen
Sealed with a kiss
If you are my friend,
Please answer this:
Are we friends or are we not?
You told me once , but I forgot
So tell me now and tell me true,
So i can say I am here for you,
Of all the friends I've ever met,
You're the one I wont forget.
And if I die before you do,
I'll go to Heaven
And wait for you.

Good-bye, my Love
by David Pawson
Good-bye, my love, it's time we part,
I bid you fond farewell.
I've loved you true, with all my heart,
more than mere words can tell.
I love you still, and always will,
with all my mortal soul,
But know not when we'll meet again,
as time and tide unroll.
Though lost to me, I cherish you,
the dearest of the dear,
And offer up a prayer or two,
in hopes that God will hear:
That you know peace,
that you find love,
that your life be filled with laughter,
That angels stand watch over you,
tonight
and ever after.

The Aspirin
Terry Porter
I've often wondered how it would feel
To be nothing more than a type of pill.
So imagine for a moment, if you can,
That I am an aspirin of no particular brand.
I'm sitting on this old dark shelf,
But believe me I'm not by myself.
I've many friends here that look like me
In this house of steel, one large family.
As I look around my neighbors I see.
Why there's a metal man named "Foamy",
And there's a red man who looks real grim,
He has a skull and crossed bones printed on him.
Beyond these neighbors I can't see far,
Because of some medicated gunk in a jar.
So I sit here waiting for that fateful day
When a human has a pain he wants to go away.
Someone's coming, I must stay calm,
For soon I'll be laying in a sweaty palm.
What luck! I was hidden by the cotton,
But I know someday I'll be swallowed and forgotten.

That Caleb!
ericnmichelle
That Caleb!
He's as sill as can be
Poking his curious little head where ever he may
Always digging in that pantry
That Caleb!
He knows what he wants
And until he gets it, he fusses and grunts
He quickly forgets after an angry retreat
Once he senses a defeat
That Caleb!
God bless his clumsy little feet
A smile at Dad, a giggle and a run
How quickly you can lose the fun
Once the chair his head did meet
That Caleb!
Let's get to that hospital, I did implore
His head, not a pretty sight
Yet, he still wants to crawl on the concrete floor
Determined eyes that spoke, "It's my right!"
That Caleb!
My darling boy, all bundled in a papoose
Struggling with all his might
One desire on his mind--to get loose!
He put up quite the fight
That Caleb!
Finally they were done
Once unloosed, he was ready to run!
That Caleb!
He's as silly as can be
Always poking his curious head wherever he may
Who knows what new adventure we will see
When tomorrow we start a brand new day!

How can you see
That you can not be
The one and the only one
That thinks and see
But you are just a part of me
All the same
And I am a part of you
We all see everything the same
But also feel different
Towards the things we see
What makes us different
Makes us the same
There is a connection
Between you and me
And the things around us
What makes our reality
Makes us who we are
We are part of this reality
And the reality is part of us
It is not us making this realm
And it is not this realm
That makes us
But everything together
As one making ourselves

City Dump
Jjaz - Jeff Flaig
Possession death has come to the land
Product of machine, made by hand
In fortified heaps of wet mud and dry clay,
long forgotten treasures have found their way
From the mountains, from the sea,
man's obscure attestation to entropy
The written law that we consumer's doom
all this refuse from our silver spoon
Scrap yard supermarkets for the unfortunate beast,
from the table of the god's ambrosial feasts
Yet the food chain conception of gluttonous man,
gathers and discards all that he can

LOSTLOVE
Jim Wayword
As I lie in the darkness
Discarded and cold
I can feel the scavengers
picking at my skin.
Unconcerned are they,
for they cannot taste my sins.
As I look behind me
I can see the others,
carcasses, lying cold and empty
Just as I am soon to be.
As the venom that was once her love
flows slowly through my veins.
I still have hope that she will
return to me again.
With hope still alive
I look forward up the road
but she is swallowed by the darkness
Looking for her next encounter.
It's not the loss of love that
causes the slow death within
But the swiftness and the coldness
of the deed.
For there was no reason
For there was no closure
Just release.
And therefore I still hope.
But now the darkness
overwhelms me
and the emptiness
is final.

MY MOTHER'S ROSE
Trevor Marrett
The rose my mother planted is just a memory
the rose my mother planted is far across the sea
I can remember it as a lad
being tended with loving care by my dad
Running and playing around his feet
then resting in the shade in the summer heat
But alas alack those days are gone
yet still the memory lingers on
Perhaps one day who knows we will see
once more I will gaze upon mother's rose that is far across the sea

3 in the Morning
David Koepke
3 in the morning
in open desert--
Dingos prowl the flickering
borders of the fire
light.
An old man very
near to death--
Shirtless, he lays on
ripples of sand,
A drained bottle of
whiskey by his head.
Moments before, he
put a branch
into the flames.
He breathes
in starts.
Ashed scrub, sparks
whorl and raise.
A silent
helix storm before
the constant stars.

The Lord is My Shepherd
Michelle Maginness
The Lord lead me down a path
That I did not understand
It was scary, it was dark
It was not what I had planned
"Why?" I cried out
It hurts so bad!
I was overcome by fear
I felt as if sorrow was the only emotion I had
I turned the pages
Of my blessed book
I found such comfort
Upon what my eyes did look
Some paths, I see the immediate blessing
Some are a reminder-- he is right beside me
When you fine yourself asking, "How can this be?"
Stand upon his faithful words of comfort
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me
Whom or what have I to fear
With my prince at my side
And although I may feel sorrow
Great joy, I will experience when in his presence I hide

A Distant Ember
scleach
A crowd gathers to see the flames
Who cares what's burning as long as it's big.
My foggy dream empire is afire.
Rubber suits and hoses alike
emerging from a red water rig.
The magnificence cannot be drowned,
it flares on against the dark,
a torch for a hopeless city.
A day, a night - a night, a day
The smoke chokes the suffered streets,
merciless and persistent, without pity.
And so the crowd is driven back
back from the fire, away from the town.
No one is there to stand and stare,
not an awe filled eye nor a helpless hand,
there's not a soul around.
The inferno finally dies for nobody
and the smoke reveals a ghostly land,
ashes, dust, and abandonment.
I am only a burning ember waiting to fade completely.

UNTITLED
Ashley Yerke
Sitting in class you hear the teacher yell
What is she thinking? oh please do tell
Inside her brain is she bleeding with anger?
Is their a sign on her saying danger?
Is their a green slimy creature who lives in her hair?
And tells her to do things that just aren't fair
Is her brain a creepy dungeon with ghosts and goblins?
Is their a devil in there that makes her do sins?
Oh whenever she yells its just oh so sad!
She gives me this look oh it makes me so mad!
The look in her eyes when she shouts in my face,
It makes me want to go to a better place!
I've always wondered why she yells!
Everyone knows but no one ever tells!
Now I know why she yells all the time,
I think its her brain but it could just be mine!

So We Came
camilla cheung
At times we murmur of tales told long ago
And mourn the passing of this age
And some leviathan, with scourging tail
Wipes out the memories of those days
We chant the songs of our newborn land
And dance, the grass beneath our feet
We carve places out of granite for us here
And tears water our scattered seeds
We have sprung into being here
Though to this land we were not born
We shall bear children, grow old and die
Amid our stalks of milky corn
We shall find contentment in this place
And comfort in our fires' flames
And the restless ocean boils and rolls
Forgetting why and whence we came

NOCTURNAL DEITY
Curtis Cartier
Running barefoot on broken dreams
He trips on night and falls asleep
His fantasies untie the seams
That bind him to the other sheep
A lunar spell makes him a boy
To wallow in hypocrisy
At dawn the day destroys his joys
With mallets of monotony
Tonight all shall bow, For he is king now
Tyrant of Moonlight, God in his hindsight
ALL HAIL THE NOCTURNAL DEITY
Armies of stars charge from the east
To face the sun on fields of dusk
On desperate light the night shall feast
And leave the sun in dark to lust
But stars and moon won't rule for long
For darkness calls the sleeping king
Who shatters all our truth with song
A tune we've heard the children sing

Empty
by the Professor
The burning emptiness in my chest
The thirst for that which I know not
Cannot be quenched
And it consumes my mind.
Yearning for the longing to end
Searching for the unattainable desire
But its not possible
There is nothing of that kind.
Frustration overwhelms my mind
Unable to recognize it
Yet I know it must be there
Mind overwhelmed
My heart it is struck blind.
My desire is blind and nameless
I know not what I need
Overwhelming discontentment
Uncontrollable for the rest of time.

I'm being me...
by Gothic Rose
When you see me standing there,
Realize that I am real.
I'm not part of the mind you see,
I always will be, just plain old me.
But when you see me standing round,
I might be staring at the ground...
You might think I'm all alone,
But you might tease and try to hurt,
So then your face will meet the dirt...
For you see, I'm being me.
I'm not a prep or skater-punk,
I'm a goth with a mean right hook...
I'm not here for you to push,
And if you do you'll meet a bush.
I may be pale and kinda thin,
But I can fight and I can win...
So if you think I'm all alone,
Realize why and don't cross my line.
I'm being me and you should know,
I don't stand down and I'm not afraid...
So if your smart you will see
I am just being plain old me.....

That's No Way to Break A Heart"
Krissy
Gordon
"You waltz into the room. Just like you had never left."
And for the first time I feel time like a heartbeat,
The seconds pumping in my chest like your chosen part,
The numinous mysteries, that once seemed so distant.
For a moment or two, I could almost forget,
The unreal clarity, in the threatening presence of the truth,
I feel these words as if their meaning were weights being lifted from me,
That you should know my heart, look into it,
When you call my name, I'll drop my guard
Standing there, the memory and experience that belonged to you,
For nothing more than this, That's no way to break a heart
That is a comfort to me now as I feel your tethers loosen
Expectations frozen in darkness, of a journey that began not so long ago,
It which began again with a faith shaken and strengthened by your decision.
And look at you incomplete, hoping that I will forgive you for not making the
journey with me. That's no way to say Goodbye "That's No Way to Break A Heart"

Inside Looking Out
E. A. Rovner
I've always been on the outside,
Looking in.
But while I was going inside,
out of the cold.
Everyone else was going outside,
into the warm sun.
So now I'm on the inside,
where it's still cold.
Looking outside at everyone
Frolicking in the warm sun

Smoke em' if you got em'
By Wallace A. Zard
Ride em' sexy gaucho
Ride that pony horse
In your leather chaps and hat
With sparkly spurs of course...
Whip that limber stallion
Slap him with your stick
Busting bronco's large and wide
Big and fat and thick
Rope me, ride me, brand my ass
Treat me like a steak
Warm me on the fire spit
Then eat me by the lake
Herd me up with cattle dogs
Let them nip my heels
Steer me in with cattle prods
As bad as prodding feels
Call me Cowboy Steve or Bob
Even Cowboy Lou
Come on down to Cowboy town
And see the things we do...

Madam Moka
Shannon
Madam Moka glided by on twisted lilies
The ether sodden, sultry; defiled by weeping Noels and snickering Billies
Fading lilacs and withering cyans borne upon lakeside swells
Ethereal acoustics from cherry blossoms, imposing upon downcast pimpernels
Her clever disorder permeates the wayside weir
Inhibition quarrels to defend the discernment here
Madam Moka sights a nestling, clamoring throughout adulterate flora
Clandestine scrutiny murmurs across billows of flood, within and among divinity implore
O' betrothal to alabaster waters, betrayal to stygian sands
The timberland belle lurks in basin valleys, her gratitude lapsing through hollow hands
--------------------------------------------------
Yeah, we may fight,
and yeah, we may yell.
But always in my heart you'll stay,
forever and ever this way.
I know our love will never die,
even though we scream and cry.
I'll always be there for you,
just like big sisters do.
Right there by your side,
and that I never lied.
Sticking together oh so strong,
there is no way we could ever go wrong.
Loving and caring for you,
like big sisters do.
We'll always be together,
just me and you.
And in my heart you'll always stay,
forever and ever this way.

There is a forest over yonder where the hollows lie,
tall green trees of natures wonder stretch up to the sky,

The Dawn Sunset
Aaron McGill
An angel fell from heaven one day
and didn't make a sound,
she fell rapid and curious,
said she just wanted to look around.
I met this angel in the
alley of awkward time,
I met her in a dream
and wanted to make her mine.
"But you haven't any wings!" she said,
in a whisper so loud,
"but we could still fly together!" I quipped,
"you could hold me then drop me through the clouds."
"I don't know 'bout that," she replied,
"my arms are meant for me."
"Well let me sing you songs then,
or let me drive you around.
We could fall asleep in ecstasy,
or drink some wine and go fall down."
"I'm tired of falling, little man,
and I still have nothing to show.
These apparitions I grab at when I'm sad
only weigh me down, you see, so I have to go!"
"But I love you!"
"Just words,"
"Not words! My heart!"
"Oh your heart, ah yes, I've heard it before."
"But...But..."
As the angel stands
and knows her plans
I should leave and say nothing more,
but I can't get my heart out the door.

"To a Friend"
A winding path has crossd your view
You laughed and walked away,
A one-track mind that shone so long
But fun led to dismay.
A crooked road now fills your eyes
So blindly now you stride,
Unsure of what the dust unfolds
You struggle for your pride.
So while the pitchfork spikes your hay
And no grass flaunts its green,
The lake's been drained, the fish do sigh
One breath before serene.
But as you watch, to find yourself
Your lot in turbid land,
The laughter halts, a smile frowns
One you used to withstand.
I watch afar - you curse and flail
You pounce around denial,
You cry still tears, unearthing soul
To search for what's worthwhile.
Dig deep, my friend, search far and wide
If that's what you feel best,
But roam about this Earth enough
It's circle will attest.
To tread full length to find the truth
For where it's always lied
Is proudly poised, showing the world
The laughter you provide.
So by the road, confused you stand
Existence feels betrayed,
With safeguard torn, no shelter sought
No mental debts repaid.
While you travel on this path
In you we all shall miss,
But you'll emerge the mind's cocoon
In metamorphosis.
But if you change, and find your light
To bring wrought mind to peace,
The crazy kid I know and love's
A hard thing to release.
I comfort in your loyalty
The pedastle you hold,
But cursed strike upon myself
If I could not be bold.
For far from Satan's icy grip
Tense scene can lose some breath,
But nothing's more important now -
I back your sorrowed trek.
So grasp the road, to where it takes
Stand tall to face the rage,
Tread strong to destination yours
The world's now but your stage...

"Good Byes"
hold my eyes open cause I'm sinking
sinking
pull my toenail with your might growing pinkish
and into the earth
with it's false green cover
my body's been laid
and I'm ready for the weeping
my shadow it's moving - mutating freely
on dirty concrete
your lover crumpled and creeping
your pirate, your stealing
your eyes are now seeping
my reciprocity illusion
how much is your thunder's reprisal
I know it's stylish, trendy, and trite
to be dysfunction's child
they know I'm far too intelligent
but I'm crying miles
of loneliness

Gone Insane
By Mandi Shroyer
Upside down,
which way to go?
Inside out,
does anyone know?
Gone insane,
forever mad.
Good today,
tomorrow's bad.
Love, anger, hate,
emotions of life.
Many people die,
having turned to the knife.
Life, love, joy,
very insane.
Over the top,
excruciating pain!

No name
poem
No screams, no tears
No dreams no fears.
Nothing but existence.
I can't love, I can't hate.
Is it soon? Or am I late?
What on earth is wrong?
Am I getting paranoid?
I feel what I don't
I am what I never was.
Help me out, got so deep.
I close my eyes for a while.
So tired... can't even sleep.
I wonder around (lost on nowhere)
No place to go (no place to be)
I seek higher grounds
But always fall.
Never been here before
Never want to be here again.
Got stuck on this feeling
Seems it runs over again (just for me)
I'm lost where I'm found.
Don't know what to say.
Can't say goodbye,
Can't say anything at all

Languishing in misery, the Dark Sky hangs above
Streets like canyon floors, wind tunnels for the Media's amusement
Columns of steel, brick and concrete
Pillars of the Community running circles 'round town
Flies buzzing about, the dead dog lies
Frozen stiff, the cement screams as the grass hibernates
Salt stains and poisonous habits
Blue Collars, White Collars, No Collars, No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service
Constantly ascending, reaching ever Higher
Strive! Strive, oh Children of the Blender!

Everlasting sinkhole, standing Tallest against the elements
No longer processing but still resilient

The World in a Nut's Shell
C. M. Larson
Do you know where you are?
In essence:
who you are?
what you are?
We live in the Unreality of this world.
Death is the achievement that makes us real.
Reality is permanent--
Goes on without end, so
Death is the point where reality begins.
This life that we live,
In this world, so it seems,
Is based only upon each of our Dreams.
Life is a trial that must be taken with Stride,
Completion's not easy; Achieve it with pride.
So when it's complete,
and your living is done,
Don't be afraid,
Reality's just Begun.

"Fly"
By: Mystic Dreams
Throughout my life I've seen a flaw.
I've been the fly upon the wall.
Sometimes spoken to but never received.
In any circle socially.
I've watched and listened to old and young.
But all tell me I am to old or to young.
I've tried people my age.
But people see me as to strange.
Because I have an open mind.
They tend to think that I am blind.
I will not let them see my tears.
As their words cut and shred my ears.
When I am shunned socially.
I feel my soul begin to bleed.
I am the fly upon the wall.
THAT YOU KILL WITH NO THOUGHT AT ALL !!!!!!!!

For the loss of a long time friend
I've done this thing
a thousand times before,
looked death in the face,
I've been to that place,
but this time it's different,
it's not the same,
I know that girl,
those go-go shoes
little swirl,
twirling kilt,
the one she wore,
and in that split second,
she was no more.

"Musings over a pool"
Jason
Shaffer
I looked into a pool, just the other day,
and there I saw my reflection (twas pale as a ghost)
I reached out and touched myself,
but then I slowly faded away...
so sad, I thought, to myself,
why are you this way?
"My friend" came the answer,
"you have died, to be raised again by your lover"

she loved paris I dreamt last night that the cars were on tracks and we drove from the hill's dainty twilight to the scum and slums of the city and danced with all that had yet to be washed and smoked the air liked it and woke up again and my mother was still here and she fed me watermelon like a child and sang like an angel with rosy cheeks and a gun on the table with no real fear lurking in it's rays and the sunlight dancing on the latex grapes my hair in a bun and I was a dancer again all 61 inches of me I made her smile and the gun disappeared and the sky opened up and everything was fine again and the bruises were gone and carolina was so close and the suitcases were heavy and my palms were sweaty and I sat up in my rose sheets and remembered that I was alone again in this house this bitter house that she designed and played her sea scapes and drank her sorrows away and there was no fruit in the kitchen just wax and her soaps and the windchimes she so proudly placed upon the pool's patio and all of her perfume and her purse hidden in the closet and everything I need of her is gone.

"MIST"
Part 1.
O!decitful mist you so unkind
Because you have made me blind
Now I cant assume I'm here or there
And my destination is lost somewhere
Part 2.
I have the light of heart all the way through
Whatever it takes I'm gonna do
This mist has no power to stop me now
I know I'm gonna get to you some how.

MIND AND BODY
Kathy Haines 03/03/00
For some unknown reason my body and my mind ,
can not get together, nor can they each decide.
Which one will prevail and which one will be strong,
Which one will have to fall behind and which will have to hide.
My mind, you see, is very strong and the will to heal is vast,
But my body says "hold on there", it has chosen a separate way.
All the testing known to man can't seem to figure out,
what my ailing body has to say, but I feel it every day.
Pain and affliction, how much can a person endure?
Food and drink alike, need I add, are anything but grand.
Still I fuel the body and hope beyond belief,
The two shall meet together and take a conforming stand.
Listen to my mind, dear body, I want you to be well,
Help me to keep reaching out and find the magic cure.
Heal you shall and as time limbers by,
The discord of mind and body will only be a blur.

SHADOW OF THE HAWK
Beverly Roberts
I sit in this cool oak
glade among the blue
quail's two note repetition,
the bobwhite's mating whistle,
the hummingbird's wing-whirr.
A cottontail nibbles,
hops, nibbles across
yards of scorched earth.
Red-winged blackbirds' liquid
strains overflow pond reeds.
Crickets hone, flies gad.
Tall grass bends in sparse clutches.
A broad wingspan,
pinions etched clear,
overshadows leaf shadows
capering on chalice of dust.
I twist, angle for a glimpse
of banded tail or red,
amid the sudden quiet.

Sextant
-Derek Song
North where winds blow
as chill as the deepest night.
where vibrato echoes shamelessly
from the seas
to the firmament of Heaven
and back
Games selfish and bitter as a fresh driven snow
East where ancients dwell
souls brandish shrills,
from vibrations of furious banshees
across the highland glens
green as the Amazon
A life force so (alive)
alien to any understanding
South where flowers thrive in arid deserts
caravans of Gold and Salt
crawl from infancy
wings claw at air
to thin and weak to sustain
Ivory tusks, long for its previous place
West where virgin lands lay
drawing the multitudes with siren songs
where hope springs forth
where anarchy once held court
every angle is crossed
every latitude sings
the weight of directions pins
A perfect circle of being
Which ever place you hail
I shall travel and follow your steps

To You, Sleeping
jmenon
Sweet Honey, when I dream
of you
Of my hands pressed between your
thighs
Of your eyes tightly shut
and your lip tickling mine
Warm sheets, when I dream of
you
Of heartbeats against yours
back-on-chest
Of thoughts cut short
by sighs and turns
Soft music, when I dream of you
Of the rose petals of your
hands
Of feet massaging feet
in the dark
Together alone
in the cool
black

DREAMS
Anja Usslepp
I dreamt a dream
Last night.
In my dream the world
Was being
Conquered by ill-mannered beings.
Filled with such rage
That it
Drowned out the sea.
Those beings
Not knowing what the fight
was being
Fought for, but knowing only
One word hate.
The hate that filled their eyes
Left no sight
To see the good and beauty
That their grudge had destroyed.
I dreamt a dream
Last night,
And awoke from my restless sleep
to peer out my window
To uncover that my dream had
Become a reality.

"Goodbye World"
Standing in silence
Blackness engulfs you
And the screams of wandering
Souls are heard
No vision seen
But hearing all sights
And an endless undying fear
Rips at you heart
Then ungodly light
Pours into your soul
Filling you mind with forgiveness
Emotions of hate drain from your heart
Along with the feeling of love
An cold, demon feeling steals over
Your body
Curdling your blood and your soul
As you pull the curtains
On an unused life
Good-bye, sweet world, good-bye.

Ending A Way of Life
By John Stewart
Ending a way of life
A life that just happened, not one that I chose
Blessings are few with much strife
A life familiar soon will be drawing to a close
Happiness escapes me in this life I knew
Fear encompasses from each side
Leaving friends and loved ones too
The Holy spirit will be my guide
Giving up belongings
Turning life's page
Never achieving ones longings
A bittersweet time on this life's stage
Fear of unknown is difficult for each
Fear that things may indeed be worse too
A time to extend the reach
To do things one always desired to do
Venturing into a new land one must be brave
To serve a mission for God, I will be sustained
Too soon each of us will fill the grave
I will follow God and eternity will be attained

Feed the Flame
by Annika Beck
I build a little fire,
I must tend to every day.
You want to know
And you need to know,
The reason of my being.
My light burns low,
Until you are there.
Feed the Flame.
To figure out the meaning of my fire,
You must look deep into my heart.
With a purple glove
You search my heart,
For Traces of Emotion.
Until one day
You drop your purple glove,
And my fire goes out.

An Occurrence
Danielle Kathleen Jones
Dark clouds loom in black skies.
Seas of woe overcome misty breezes and peaceful cheer.
The small craft valiantly pushes against the unrelenting walls of cruelty.
The sea flows into the boat by the bucketful.
A thin man stands in the dilapidated skiff,
Having despaired of trying to savage the vessel.
His watery blue eyes relating painfully to the toiling waters which are to be his death.
He wore long, navy, velvety robes and cloak giving a regal impression of the man who is not accustomed to physical work.
The texture and color strikingly resembled what one would imagine thinking of the deepest abyss.
His heart stopped.
The once powerful muscle that had gone weak with fear and age
Ceases to move and carry its load.
The garb goes slack on the man,
Saddening our vision of the depths of the sea.
The figure of the man falls, a corpse, on the deck of the small vessel.
The seas calm. Their torture finished.
The winds cease to rack the little boat.
The slight breeze tips the small sailboat.
The skies are a light blue.
The sun stretched lazily over the beautiful greenish blue waves.
In the distance one can almost distinguish the hull of a boat, poking out of the water.
Like a miniature newspaper hat, it drifts to the bottom of the sea.

"SCENE"
ASIM KHALIL
When the moon retired in admiration
When all stars collapsed from the sky
Even darkness became vigilant
They all acknowledged to what I captured
Alone in the starry night
When the sun dimmed like a trivial firefly
When the hues destroyed their glow
Even dazzle bewildered its wonder
They all had providence to what I seized
Solely in the classic day
When the earth coveted in addiction
When the heavenly bodies plucked out of curve
Even the universe shivered to the notion
They all demanded to intrigue what I had thought
Isolated in the prodigy setting's reverie
They suffer to witness what I had seen
They envy for my eyes and thoughts
Just so to see your starry sensation
Just so the thought of your solely scene
Just so as I.

ever have days that seem to last forever
everything seems to be done wrong
all you need is to be dismissed
does it feel like you're in hell
all thoughts you have seem to sicken
all you hear is terrible frightening sounds
the sight of people seems to disgust
frantic fear is all you feel
praying for the end
one word is all you want to hear
even if it's false, all you want is
for your mind to say one thing...

LOVE
What is love but a simple word.
A word that makes you feel all giddy inside.
Very few have experienced the real love.
And many think they have experienced it.
True love is an everlasting account of faithfulness.
To die for is love.
To love is to live and to live without love makes you incomplete.
Your body needs love and your mind needs love for reassurance.
When love is in the air, you never want to leave.
Love is a story book written in your own hand writing.
To lose and love makes your life full filled.
But too never love makes you incomplete.

A Winter's Day In June
Peyton Childs
The cold turns to the warm, our life is without a care.
Winter changes yet again to spring, with its colors everywhere.
And night evolves in to day, time and time again.
With you by my side I know not of the rain.
We laugh together holding each others heart tight.
Your eyes have that glow of the morning light.
Our loving days together truly will know of no end.
Troubles are rare, minor and of which I don't contend.
Is this heaven here on earth, it's all that I can see.
Your heart and mine they were truly meant to be.
Those before you, all of which no longer exist.
Those eyes of yours have left them in the mist.
Now touches turn to a chill, as if you don't care.
I can feel it, sense it I can actually smell it in the air.
Hoping but fearing ,praying for it not to end.
I'm sure, as you are not that we are unable to mend.
Yes, my love this is the last chapter of our book.
Just a page to finish, one final smile and look.
We will walk different paths, live separate lives soon.
For it seems, you my love, have left me on this winters day in june.

ALONE
JAMES RITTENHOUSE
Midnight arrives and the journey begins
As candles glow to call distant dreams
In unison cherubs cantor
Revealing the descent to levels unvisited
Touching the passion
Like amber horizons in the mist
Twisted amongst the rubble
Undefinable and obscure
Feathery soft
It blows in the wind
Landing softly on pillows of virgin dew
Fearless in the oneness
Calling no one so shrilly
Confused by the darkness, as to whisper to the deaf
Concentrating on nothing
Giving answers to all
Solitude is uncovered
As gates of duality slam shut.

I CANNOT WRITE TODAY, BECAUSE I AM A CHAMELEON.
I AM THE QUEEN OF INDEFINITE MODIFIERS.
I AM THE RULE OF OUTSIDE REINFORCEMENT.
I AM WHO I AM AT THIS MOMENT.
POSSIBLY, PERHAPS.. MAYBE
I CANNOT WRITE TODAY
SATURDAY I WAS A MOTHER,
TODAY IS TUESDAY
NO.. MAYBE IT IS MONDAY?
I CANNOT WRITE TODAY.
I AM THINKING OF ROUND FACED CHILDREN, BUBBLE GUM BUBBLES,
BROKEN HEATS, PEA-SOUP FOG.. BURNT COOKIES
FROSTED WINDOWS, MUDDY BOOTS...
IF ROCKS COULD FLOAT,
IF ONLY MY COLORS WOULD BRIGHTEN.
THE CHANCE I MAY ONE DAY STAND FEET FIRMLY ON THE GROUND.
MAYBE ..PERHAPS THE DAY WHEN I SPEAK MY OWN TRUTH AND
NOT QUESTION MY LEFT AND MY RIGHT..
IF ONLY I KNEW RIGHT FORM LEFT.
I CANNOT WRITE TODAY.
MY COLOR IS GRAY.
MAYBE I'LL WEAR MY SHIRT INSIDE OUT..
WON'T BRUSH MY HAIR.. NO MASK ON MY FACE EITHER..
YOU TURN TO ME AND SAY "YOU SURE ARE PRETTY".
I THINK YOU ARE CRAZY.
MUST BE THE WAY YOU LOVE SOMEONE SUCH AS MYSELF.
ALL TANGLED, PARTLY MADE OF RUBBER..BOUNCING FROM CEILING TO FLOOR.
YOU SAY I AM MADE OF FRUITCAKE,
I KNOW I LOOK LIKE FRUITCAKE.. PRETTY COLORS
YUCK ..TASTES TERRIBLE!
HAVE TO SPIT IT OUT.
I CANNOT WRITE TODAY
HEAD IS FULL OF ASPHALT.. CRACKED, GRITTY AND GRAY.
DREAMING OF A CHRYSALIS
CHANGING MY FORM.. MY COLORS.
THINKING OF YOU..
GENTLE, LOVING, FUNNY, STEADFAST AND STRONG
THINKING OF YOU WHIRLWIND, HOT TEMPERED, ANGRY AND COLD.
WONDERING IF YOU LIKE CHAMELEONS OR MOTHERS ON SATURDAYS OR RUBBER BALLS OR EVEN FRUITCAKE.
WONDERING WHO COULD EVER LIKE FRUITCAKE AT ALL...

Body, mind and Soul
Words cannot explain to you
The attraction when you are near.
Confusion scatters once collected thoughts
Which the light of day made clear.
My heart pounds fast, always loud
Longing for your touch,
But just to ask you for a simple thing
Always seems too much.
I want to be with you for eternity
Your beauty making everything foggy.
You cannot possibly understand
The attraction of your body.
The way we talked of many things
Including emotion and thought.
Of the feelings people have for each other,
The things that could never be taught.
Appreciation is hard to find,
When it is it should never be lost.
It should be clung to like green fresh grass
In the morning covered by frost.
I wish that I could see your thoughts,
Their beauty and complexity to find.
I think I could live and die there,
That's the attraction of your mind.
We hardly met for an instant
Of the worlds endless time.
I felt our two souls meet,
Joined, yours and mine.
I was touched as never felt before,
Heat burning like a red hot coal.
You may find this hard to believe,
But that's the attraction of your soul.

Killer, she screamed
as I was in someone
else's shoes
steel footed
welded to a burning planet.
Lover, she wept and

Savior, she whispered
as I dug into
the coals.
Down dug down
into the coals.
Broken water in

Not Real
Evan Larsell
Who are you?
You know who I am.
Where am I?
You know were you are.
Am I...?
Yes.
You're not real.
I'm standing right here.
Where have you taken me?
Look around.
What am I doing here?
I think you know.
Just tell me!
What do you want me to say?
I don't know.
Would it really make you feel any better?
What's that supposed to mean?
You know what it means.
No I don't!
Yes you do, but you just can't face the reality.
This isn't reality.
So be it...
Hello? I can't see, I can't move. Is any body there?

Think
Jason R.
Think, think, think
Sometimes I think I think too much
Always second guessing my every thought
Leaves me feeling hopeless and distraught
Why can't I accept the simple things
The things that really are so simple
The Good news about Jesus
The healing in His Blood
These things I should be thinking about
Instead my mind is filled with a flood of doubt
Troubled by these thoughts of mine
Are the thoughts on my mind

Pleasure and Pain
Simone
Pleasure and pain
That's the name of the game
What would you do for a little taste of pleasure?
Would you stop at any unreachable measure?
Pleasure and pain
That's the name of the game
When your heart is broken
And you feel like your love was an unwanted token
Pleasure and pain
That's the name of the game
When at first he held a special piece of your heart filled with love for him
But now that piece of your heart is ghastly and grim
Pleasure and pain
That's the name of the game

LOOKING BACK
Julia
I often think and resort back to the past,
When times were good, wishing time could last.
I drift back into his arms where I always wanted to be.
The embrace gets stronger with each thought I see.
I have drowned looking into the deepest blue oceans.
Made helpless inside but still going through the motions.
Hypnotized and paralyzed when I think about that stare.
The place where I lost myself, my words can't even compare.
I remember at that time telling myself not to forget that look upon his face.
Just so there could be times like this when it would take me back to that place.
Even though times may change, my memories will never.
Remembering the time when I will hold him forever.

MY LOVE IS LIKE A ROSE OF SILK,
IT WILL NEVER DIE AND NEVER WILT,
MY LOVE IS LIKE ITS PRECIOUS PETALS,
SOFT AS SILK YET STRONG AS METAL,
MY LOVE IS LIKE ITS STEM SO STOUT,
THERE TO THE END, THERE IS NO DOUBT,
SO IF EVER YOU QUESTION MY LOVE SO TRUE,
REMEMBER THIS ROSE I HAVE GIVEN TO YOU.

Walking down the street,
hearing the voices they can't.
Knowing they wouldn't understand,
It's just the way I am.
I can't help but listen,
to the voices as they speak.
But then I have to wonder,
is this really how it should be.
Do they talk to everyone,
or do they just trust me?
Do they tell me their stories
just 'cause I believe?
As another day goes by,
they tell me more and more.
I soon begin to realize,
my mind can't take much more!
I think now I have lost it,
something I may have never had.
My sanity is gone now,
it was only just a fad.

"Together"
~~Roseann Hartman
The silence of the wind
Upon the sandy shore
The brightness of the stars
In the sky, and in your eyes
A smile and a look
That seems to make me forget
All the troubles that I have
And all the troubles I have endured
Your hand in mine
Our fingers, intertwined
A perfect fit
A perfect place
Me and you
Alone on the beach
A quiet place together
To just smile and forget the world exists

An Almost Made Up Poem
By Buk
I see you drinking at a fountain with tiny blue hands.
No, your hands are not tiny, they are small,
and the fountain is in France
where you wrote me that last letter
and I answered and never heard from you again.
You used to write insane poems
ANGELS AND GOD, all in upper case,
and you knew famous artists and most
of them were your lovers, and I wrote back,
it's alright, go ahead, enter their lives,
I'm not jealous because we've never met.
We got close once, in New Orleans,
one half block, but never met, never touched.
So you went with the famous, and wrote about the famous,
and, of course, what you found out
is that the famous are worried about
their fame -- not the beautiful young girl in bed
with them, who gives them THAT,
and then awakens in the morning
to write upper case poems about ANGELS AND GOD.
We know God is dead, they've told us,
but listening to you, I wasn't sure.
Maybe it was the upper case.
You were one of the best female poets
and I told the publishers, editors,
"print her, print her, she's mad but she's magic.
There's no lie in her fire."
I loved you like a man loves a woman he never touches,
only writes to, keeps little photographs of.
I would have loved you more if I had sat
in a small room rolling a cigarette and
listened to you piss in the bathroom,
but that didn't happen.
Your letters got sadder.
Your lovers betrayed you.
Kid, I wrote back, all lovers betray.
It didn't help.
You said you had a crying bench
and it was by a bridge and
the bridge was over a river
and you sat on the crying bench every night
and wept for the lovers who had hurt and forgotten you.
I wrote back but never heard again.
A friend wrote me of your suicide
3 or 4 months after it happened.
If I had met you I probably would
have been unfair to you or you to me.
It was best like this.

1146 Days
Stefanie Steffen
There's a hidden meaning in everything you say.
Even the truth has got that bitter taste of a lie.
I can read your lips,
but I can't read your mind.
Would you lie to me,
and tell me that it isn't true?
Take the life from me,
with all the things you do?
Could you talk to me,
and tell me what I want to hear?
Lie to me,
And tell me you still love me?

Gone
By Luis Tramontano
To my heart
She said she loved me,
to my face
she said I'll be there,
but now she isn't
and now I'm scared.
She wouldn't let go
until I said I love you,
She said she was going to call,
but she didn't.
Now I feel like a lost dove,
with it's peace taken away,
But I will always love her to this very day,
the day she left me,
not because of love,
but,
because of a fallen dove,
what took her away from me and herself.
And now I stand alone by the foot of her grave,
and will never forget the love she gave.

I know...
--Maaike
I know I should fight
I know I should break free from this hell
But what can I do?
Too much of a coward to end
This pain
Not strong enough
To change
Caught in a prison
Of my own making
One that I'm afraid I'll never be free of
The door's wide open, all I have to do is take a step
And I'm free
But I can't
Because it's the freedom that scares me the most

can't we feel the rooms that spin?
again, again, again, again.
hellspawn crawls into the drought.
simple souls are squirming throughout.
now, the silence is weeping.
crying for moons that have passed while after sleeping.
the days will come, when nothing is here.
this is the reality of end's fear.
when nothing is left, who will we hold?
when nothing is left, will stories continue to be told?
never know. nor do I.
just take today's wind, for the are tomorrow's sky.

THE GOLDEN CITY
BY: STEVE ANDERSON
THE GOLDEN CITY
A PLACE OF NEVER-ENDING BEAUTY
WHERE NO SIN CAN ENTER IN
ALL OF MAN ARE CONSIDERED EQUAL
NO SUCH THING AS PREJUDICE
ALL IS LOVE, ALL IS PEACE
NO SUCH THING CALLED HATE
ALL THAT ENTER HAVE KEPT THE FAITH
A PLACE PREPARED BY GOD
FOR HIS FAITHFUL CHILDREN
A PLACE CALLED HEAVEN
THAT WILL FOREVER BE THE GOLDEN CITY

If Only
Nick Frost
You're my sugar-coated
Heart-ache blister
Is it understandable,
The way that I can miss you?
How can something as simple
As a pin-prick on a board
Tear apart my body
Like a throat to a sword?
The coldness of December
In the middle of May
Is it right to do nothing
As I deteriorate this way?
'Friends can always tell'
Is what she said to me
Just tear off the mask
To see reality
Wrapped in the tissues, kept in the bin
Have to keep everything out of sight
Wishing I was that feather,
So beautiful and light

Torture
Laurie Frazier
A gusty wind blows so I cannot see;
It's as if the earth is trying to eat me.
It doesn't matter, I wouldn't care;
My life doesn't seem all too fair.
The time to work, the time to play;
That's how I try to keep busy today.
The little thoughts seem to amaze me,
But open thoughts tend to confuse me.
Every day I ask myself why?
Why must it always be I?...
I who is tortured, lonely, and lost;
I who is beaten, thrown, and tossed.

Waiting
Spooky Gurl
Waiting
You disappoint me again
So, many words I want to, need to say
I try so hard to make believe
I am someone you could ever want
Waiting
I've waited for so long
While you've been with me
I haven't been with you
I show you someone who isn't me
Hoping you'll love me with them
Waiting
Now, you are waiting for me
Waiting for an answer to a question I cannot answer
I hope you will someday understand
Waiting
For someone who isn't afraid of the real me,
Who won't run away when I show my true self

The Name We Know So Well
Angela
Settingsgaard
Most of us know what went wrong,
In the sacred place where we dwell;
Our lives are words; the world's a song,
We call the name we know so well.
Our mothers and fathers have given up hope,
They have no more love to give;
Some people never learn to cope,
Now the shelter is where we live.
Here we're put to fix the crack,
In the sheltered world we love;
Most would do anything to go back,
So we pray to the heaven's above.
In truth we just want to go home,
To the place where our world fell;
Never again will our sanity roam,
If we call the name we know so well.

"Self Infliction"
my death
spawn from my very own hand
unconsciously
I diverged the eye of love,
my heart
I shattered tremendously
unwilling
to live without his love,
my eyes
wont see another sun come up
unless
i'll always have his love,
my tears
will always flow endlessly
beyond
relief for all eternity,
but my love
for him will never die
always
he'll be a part of my life.......

How could she,
deprive me,
the love I need...
to give
to hold
release.
As I kiss you
I realize
All those times I tried
to open that electric spark of therapy,
releasing all energy into that one singular touch
to the cheek.
As I try to convince you
of this feeling,
you snuff out my spark with
you and your eternal glow of self assurance,
and "I don't need your poetry of heart."
Even though she'd sit for hours on end
listening to the monotonous sound of my voice.
Why...I...don't...know.

Oh Heavenly Father
pereira
Oh heavenly father I ask you today
why did you take my daddy away
it was all so sudden but sadly true
because he was the only father we knew
You took him from us while he was doing
what he loved best
And now his family and friends
are putting him to rest, Dad if your listening
we want you to know that we'll miss you and we love you so,
Oh Heavenly father we ask you today please send my daddy to heaven this day.

Dream Girl
Bryan Babcock
When I see you looking into my eyes
I feel so good inside
I don't know how I lived without you in my life
Seeing your precious face staring back at mine
This is the only place I want to be
My only wish is to be yours
Standing side by side for eternity
You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen
You are the girl of my dreams
Be mine forever
Until the end of time
Be my one and only
And I promise you will never be lonely

A Kiss
Kristina Anoyiannakias
You look at him for just a moment
and neither of you say a word
You look at him for just a moment
and neither of you say a word
moving in slowly, you quiver a bit
and suddenly you meet.
His lips are almost of the rose
like the finest Asian silk
and your eyes are closed slightly
as you relish it completely.
For a while you could have sworn
you were no longer on earth
but floating through a mystic land
you're completely infatuated
So now that you have cherished
the moment
and time has completely stopped
you cling to it with all
your might
in hope that you may
stay in this forever.

THIS WORLD-
TESSIE LYNN
I CAME IN THIS WORLD TO DIE,
TO WATCH, LEARN, AND LIE.
TO THINK OF THE SORROW
IF THERE IS NO TOMORROW,
AND WONDER....
WHAT IS TO DIE FOR?

SWEET DREAMS
elisabeth j swirth
NO NEED FOR ANY LULLABY,
NO SLEEPING PILLS REQUIRED.
YOUR SMILES ENOUGH TO EASE MY SLEEP,
SO WELCOME WHEN I AM TIRED.
PACK AWAY THE TEDDY BEAR,
KNEEL DOWN AND SAY YOUR PRAYER.
DON'T FORGET TO SHUT OFF THE LIGHT,
LAY DOWN WITH ME, GOODNIGHT........
